Ministry Updates (COVID-19)

May 6, 2020

Dear Church Family,
The Elders have decided to reopen the church building for healthy individuals this coming Sunday, May 10. For the immediate future, this means:

  • We will only have the Worship Service at 10:45am with socially distanced seating in the sanctuary.
  • If you or someone in your household are sick, have health issues, or have concerns, we encourage you to stay home.
  • We will continue live-streaming our Sunday services.
  • There will be no Sunday School, Nursery or Children’s Church.
  • Parents must supervise their children at all times.
  • High touchpoint areas will be intensely cleaned.
  • If you desire to wear a mask, please bring your own.
  • We will have hand sanitizing stations.
  • We will maintain social distancing by not shaking hands or hugging one another.
  • Coffee and cookies will not be available.
  • The offering will be limited to online giving, the new tithe box in the foyer, and mail.
  • All other in person church gatherings and events are still cancelled until further notice. Zoom meetings will still occur, but check with your group leaders and/or electronic communications.

Love you guys!
Pastor Chris

We received the following notifcation this morning. Please direct any questions to Cindy Greaves or Elizabeth Neeley

Greetings Camp Families,

From all of us on the TASE camp team, we pray that you and your family are doing well and are keeping safe during this time.

Our great hope has been that the current pandemic situation impacting our country would have reached its conclusion by this point. The existing unknowns and variables associated with Covid-19 and the recommended social distancing guidelines have kept our team from confidently moving forward with plans for Camp 2020. Because of this reality, we regret to inform you that The Alliance Southeast Kids and Youth Camps have been cancelled for the Summer of 2020.

We recognize the financial impact and health risks associated and we desire to honor you, our camp families and volunteers. One of our driving priorities is to represent Christ well; to kids, students, families and volunteers. We believe providing a safe camp environment and experience are closely connected to this priority.

For those of you who have already applied for camp and have made full or partial payments we will be working to refund all payments during this next week. For refund questions: rebekah.shady@gmail.com

If we can pray for you in any specific ways, please feel free to reach out. We will miss all of you dearly. We are hopeful to see how God will use this trying time for His glory and we are excited to see what Summer 2021 will bring.

Dear Church Family,
On the first Sunday of each month, we set aside time in our service to reflect and remember upon the Lord’s sacrificial love for us.  This month, however, as we are faced with unusual circumstances of being isolated, we want to encourage you to enjoy this special act of worship in your homes.
Please find an attached pdf at the bottom of this page which offers a basic understanding of The Lord’s Supper as well as some suggestions.  I have also uploaded some videos for that can be used for your family worship. This link is a potential worship resource to enhance your communion time.  There are other great options in the Video Archive as well (Grow>Video Archive).

Love you guys!

Chris

March 16, 2020

As we have continued to monitor the spread of the Coronavirus, it has become apparent that we should rethink our plans for Sunday services. The designation of a pandemic by the World Health Organization, the growing concern for group gatherings, and the continued escalation of reported cases require us to take additional action.

Therefore, we are suspending our Sunday worship gatherings and will be providing a worship experience through our website. Please know that we do not make this decision lightly. We believe that corporate worship is a biblical mandate for Christians, and we want to resume in-person gatherings as quickly as possible.

We are also suspending all other church activities until further notice. Your church leadership will still be at work and available as needed. Any future changes will be communicated as they are completed.

We encourage you not to let these circumstances negatively affect your spiritual rhythms. We are working in the coming days to prepare more online resources for your daily discipleship if these cancellations become prolonged.

Please also continue to be faithful in your giving. If you typically give during our worship services, please consider these other giving options.

We covet your understanding, your support, and most of all, your prayers as we continue to respond to this unprecedented set of circumstances. We will see you online for worship.

Love you guys!

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

We want to provide you with updates as we continue to closely monitor the Coronavirus (COVID-19) as it impacts our local community. Remember, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1)

WHAT OUR CHURCH IS DOING

Until further notice, we will continue to hold regularly scheduled services and programs. (Wednesday Night activities for March 18 have already been cancelled due to Spring Break.)

In addition, we are also adding the following measures:

  • We suggest that handshaking not be done as we welcome each other.

  • We are providing extra cleaning and sanitizing of our facilities.

  • We will not be passing the offering plate during services; a designated location will be established for your tithes and offerings to be given. We also want to remind you of our other methods of giving, including our online giving page and texting “GIVE” to 205-526-3142

  • Rather than our greeters handing out bulletins, we will make them available for you to pick up at your discretion at the Welcome Table.

  • We are providing extra hand sanitizer throughout the building.

  • We are also suspending our complimentary coffee as another level of precaution.

WHAT YOU CAN BE DOING

  • Regard safety and travel advisories issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which can be found here

  • Use wisdom and stay home if you are sick and not attend worship or other church activities until symptom-free and fever-free for at least 72 hours.

  • If you have high-risk health conditions, use discretion in attending worship services/gatherings.

  • Pastor Chris’ sermons are archived by Sunday evening and can be listened to at any time.  Additionally, we are exploring how to live stream our worship services. We will notify you once this is ready.

HOW YOU CAN PRAY

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." (2 Timothy 1:7)

As believers, we have the authority which Christ has given us to pray against the spread of any disease and to pray for healing for those who have the Coronavirus.

  • Begin your prayer time by praising God for His sovereignty. He still is and always will be in control of all things. Pray that we will trust Him to help us navigate this season of uncertainty.

  • Pray for wisdom for governmental leaders, the CDC, researchers, other medical personnel, leaders in churches, and other strategic places to respond wisely and appropriately.

  • Pray for cooperation and collaboration among medical agencies and personnel around the world to work together for the well-being and health of all people.

  • Pray for the protection of doctors, nurses, crisis response teams, emergency first responders, researchers and other medical professionals who risk their lives to protect ours.

  • Pray for comfort and healing for those stricken with this virus. Pray they will receive the quality health care they need to regain health and strength. Pray for their healing and for the vaccine to cure and eradicate this virus.

  • Pray for the protection and safety of those considered “at-heightened-risk.”

  • Pray for peace, calmness, freedom from fear, anxiety, and panic among individuals and communities.

  • Pray we would be proactive in proclaiming the gospel and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. Pray this event would be a catalyst for revival.

  • Meditate on the Word of God:

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1)

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." (2 Timothy 1:7)

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you." (Psalm 56:3)

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)

“Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid.” (John 14:27)

“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.” (Psalm 55:22)

“Be strong and courageous.  Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6)

“Then he placed his right hand on me and said: 'Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last.'” (Revelation 1:17)

“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.” (Romans 8:38-39)

“The Lord your God is in your midst, A victorious warrior. He will exult over you with joy, He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.”(Zephaniah 3:17)

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”…He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.  You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.  A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you…For he will command his angels concerning you, to guard you in all your ways…“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.  He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him…” (from Psalm 91:1-16)

HOW YOU CAN LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR

Take a moment and look around you. Who are those people in your life that may be thankful for a helping hand during this time? Offer to run errands for those who have high-risk health concerns or send a note of encouragement. The tendency is to go into a self-protective mode and isolate; however, we can show others that they are not alone. How the church loves well is important. Challenge yourself to encourage someone today. Sometimes, the most powerful thing we can do is reach out and let someone know we care.Through it all, pray and ask the Lord to point us back to His truth in all we say and do.
